Ahh… Spring in San Francisco. Pack your bags for cold, hot, warm, sunny, rainy weather. Bring an appetite for top notch restaurants and great table service. Dial up your tolerance for caffeine and cocktails. And, finally, get ready to dive into another exhibit hall at ad:tech 2010.Â
My primary goals for this year’s show are simple:
Â
1. Meet with respected clients to continue to grow our business relationships and get to know them better all around.
2. Seek out new advertisers and publisher partners and opportunities for co-registration and lead generation.
3. Win a freakin iPad.
Â
Meeting face to face with clients for a change is the true highlight for me. While we all know Little Rock serves as the online advertising hub of the Southeast/Southwest central… right on top of Austin, I just don’t get to see my clients in person very often. So exhibit booths, coffee shops, happy hours and restaurants will be our workplaces next week.
At last year’s adtech, we unearthed a publisher that had been in right  front of our nose for along time. This network had not only been around as long as we have, but they had been kickin arse in the process. I really think that their little toy promo caught my eye because I thought my daughter would like it, 15 minutes later we had hashed out a deal that has paid healthy dividends. So while I have grown less and less fond of the “cattle herd” atmosphere, you still need to keep diggin for valuable partners and clients.
Now onto that iPad, that glorious iPad…. I am going to pack loads of business cards and drop them in as many fishbowls as possible. That iPad is mine, baby. Zap my badge, give me your spiel, sure I would love another pen with your company logo on it, but just give me my iPad. Everyone will be jealous when I return home and my hotel and flight will be paid for in full with all of the superficial joy that the little charming device will bring. I still don’t get the whole thing, where it fits between a computer and my smart phone, but they just look so darn cool.
I hope I see you at ad:tech!
